Overview The International Existing Building Code (IEBC) provides standards for the repair, alteration, addition, and change of occupancy in existing buildings. It ensures that existing structures can be safely and effectively modernized without requiring full compliance with the new construction codes.
The Oregon Existing Building Code 2021 is based on the International Existing Building Code 2018 (IEBC 2018) with amendments and additions to address Oregon’s unique environmental and seismic conditions. This code provides a framework for upgrading existing buildings to meet current safety and performance standards while accommodating the specific risks and requirements of the region.
