Scope

The Alabama Private Fire Service Main Installation Code 2019 establishes the requirements for the design, installation, and maintenance of private fire service mains and associated components. These systems provide a dedicated water supply to fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, and other fire suppression devices, for private and commercial properties.

Exception #1: Fire service mains serving agricultural structures or facilities may follow alternative requirements, subject to local authority approval.

Exception #2: Certain low-demand systems may use smaller pipe sizes or alternative materials when approved by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
