Scope
- The Georgia ABA Standards 2015 apply to the design, construction, and alteration of federally funded buildings and facilities to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities. These standards address accessibility requirements for entrances, routes, bathrooms, parking, and other facility elements, ensuring compliance with the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) to provide barrier-free environments in public spaces.
Exception #1: Certain historical buildings may be granted alternative compliance methods to preserve architectural integrity while improving accessibility.
Exception #2: Small facilities or structures with limited public access may have adjusted requirements based on their function and level of public interaction.
