Overview ASME A90.1 is a safety standard developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) that provides guidelines and requirements for the design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and alteration of belt manlifts. Belt manlifts are a type of vertical transportation device used to carry personnel from floor to floor in an industrial setting.
The 2015 Ohio Belt Manlift Code is based on ASME A90.1-2009 with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of belt manlifts within the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments address additional safety requirements and conditions unique to Ohio, ensuring the reliable and safe operation of these industrial transport devices.
