Overview AISC 358 is a standard developed by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) that provides guidelines and requirements for prequalified connections used in special and intermediate steel moment frames for seismic applications. It includes criteria for the design, detailing, and qualification of these connections to ensure adequate performance under seismic loading.
The 2016 Ohio Prequalified Moment Frame Connection Code, with Supplement 1-2018, is based on AISC 358-10 with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the design, construction, and qualification of prequalified moment frame connections within the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments include additional provisions tailored to the unique seismic conditions and requirements in Ohio, ensuring the safety and reliability of steel moment frames during seismic events.
