Ohio Elevator and Escalator Code 2016
Overview ASME A17.8 is a safety code developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) that provides guidelines and requirements for the design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration, and repair of elevators installed in wind turbine towers. This code ensures that these specialized elevators are safe for use by technicians and maintenance personnel who service wind turbines.
The 2016 Ohio Wind Turbine Tower Elevator Code is based on ASME A17.8-2014 with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the installation, operation, and maintenance of wind turbine tower elevators in the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments include additional provisions tailored to the unique safety and operational needs of wind turbine environments in Ohio.
