Overview The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) HVAC Duct Construction Standards provide comprehensive guidelines for the design, fabrication, installation, and quality assurance of metal and flexible duct systems. These standards ensure the duct systems are safe, efficient, and reliable, addressing various aspects such as materials, construction techniques, and performance criteria.
The 2020 Ohio Metal and Flexible Duct Code is based on the SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards – Metal and Flexible, 3rd Edition (2005) with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of metal and flexible duct systems within the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments include additional provisions tailored to the unique requirements and conditions in Ohio, ensuring the safety, performance, and efficiency of duct systems.
