Overview NFPA 72 is a standard developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) that provides the latest safety provisions to meet society’s changing fire detection, signaling, and emergency communications demands. It includes the installation, performance, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including emergency communications systems (ECS).
The 2022 Ohio Fire Alarm Code is based on NFPA 72 (2019 Edition) with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the design, installation, and maintenance of fire alarm systems within the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments address particular needs and conditions unique to Ohio, ensuring that fire alarm systems provide effective and reliable protection.
