Overview ASME B31.9 is a standard developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) that provides guidelines and requirements for the design, materials, fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing of piping systems for building services. These piping systems include those used for heating, cooling, ventilation, steam, and water supply.
The 2020 Ohio Building Services Piping Code is based on ASME B31.9-2017 with Ohio-specific amendments. This code sets the minimum standards for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of building services piping within the state of Ohio. The Ohio-specific amendments include additional provisions tailored to the unique needs and conditions of building services piping in Ohio, ensuring safety and reliability.
