Overview
The North Carolina Fire Wall Code 2015 is a statewide regulation that adopts the NFPA 221, Standard for High Challenge Fire Walls, Fire Walls, and Fire Barrier Walls, 2015 Edition, without any amendments. This code provides comprehensive guidelines for the design, construction, and maintenance of fire-resistant walls intended to prevent the spread of fire between adjacent buildings or areas within a building.Â
Key provisions of the North Carolina Fire Wall Code 2015 include requirements for fire wall construction materials, structural stability, fire-resistance ratings, openings and penetrations, as well as specific criteria for high challenge fire walls subjected to severe fire exposure. The code ensures that fire walls and fire barrier walls meet stringent standards to safeguard life and property by containing fires and limiting their potential for horizontal and vertical spread.
