Scope
- The Georgia Wood Construction Wind and Seismic Code applies to the design, construction, and maintenance of wood structures to ensure resilience under wind and seismic loads. It establishes requirements for material strength, connection detailing, lateral load resistance, and energy dissipation in wood structural systems, aimed at enhancing safety and performance in wind- and earthquake-prone regions.
Exception #1: Small residential buildings located in areas classified as low-seismic and low-wind zones may follow simplified design criteria, as determined by local jurisdiction.
Exception #2: Non-structural wood elements or temporary wood construction used on construction sites may be subject to alternative requirements, based on intended use and load.
