Scope

  • The provisions of the Georgia Wind Turbine Tower Elevator Code apply to the design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of elevators installed in wind turbine towers. The code ensures the safe and reliable operation of elevators that are used for the transportation of personnel and materials within the towers, covering aspects such as safety features, emergency controls, and operational requirements.

Exception #1: Wind turbine towers that are below a certain height or do not require internal access may be exempt from the elevator installation requirements, depending on local jurisdiction.

Exception #2: Temporary elevators used during the construction phase of wind turbine towers may follow different regulations based on construction standards and timelines.
