Scope
- The Georgia Structural Glued Laminated Timber of Hardwood Species Specifications Code applies to the specifications, fabrication, and performance requirements for glued laminated timber (glulam) made from hardwood species. This code ensures that hardwood glulam used in construction meets durability, load-bearing, and quality standards suitable for structural applications, such as beams and columns in both commercial and residential buildings.
Exception #1: Non-structural or decorative hardwood glulam elements that do not carry load-bearing functions may follow alternative guidelines based on aesthetic considerations.
Exception #2: Temporary hardwood glulam applications on construction sites may be exempt from full code compliance, depending on local jurisdiction.
