Scope

  • The provisions of the Georgia Stationary Fuel Cell Power Code apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of stationary fuel cell power systems. These systems are used to provide electric power and heating to buildings in both commercial and residential settings. The code ensures the safe operation of fuel cells by addressing critical issues such as location, ventilation, safety controls, and maintenance requirements.

Exception #1: Residential installations for one- and two-family dwellings may follow simplified guidelines under NFPA 853, or the requirements may be modified based on local jurisdiction.

Exception #2: Portable fuel cell systems or temporary installations, such as those used for special events or construction sites, are governed by different codes and may not be subject to the stationary fuel cell power code.
