Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia State Minimum Standard Swimming Pool and Spa Code apply to the design, construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of swimming pools, spas, and related equipment. The code sets minimum safety and sanitation requirements to ensure the health and welfare of users, covering public and residential pools and spas.
Exception #1: Private pools and spas serving detached one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses shall comply with the residential provisions of this code.
Exception #2: Public swimming pools that are part of recreational facilities must also comply with additional health and safety requirements as dictated by local jurisdictional authorities.
