Scope

  • The provisions of the Georgia State Minimum Standard Gas Code apply to the installation, alteration, and repair of fuel gas piping systems, fuel gas appliances, gas-fired appliance venting systems, and related accessories. The code ensures safe installation and operation of gas systems to prevent hazards such as leaks, fires, and explosions.

Exception #1: Fuel gas systems for one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses are covered under the Georgia State Minimum Standard One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code.

Exception #2: Specific requirements for gas piping systems that carry hazardous gases must comply with additional provisions set by other relevant codes, such as NFPA 54 or NFPA 58.
