Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Standpipe and Hose System Installation Code apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of standpipe systems, which provide water for fire suppression through hose outlets in buildings and structures. This code ensures that standpipe systems are correctly installed and maintained to supply water for fire fighting in commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings.
Exception #1: Low-rise residential buildings (four stories or fewer) may not require standpipe systems unless specified by local jurisdiction or as part of a combined sprinkler/standpipe system.
Exception #2: Temporary standpipe systems for construction sites are governed by separate regulations and may have different requirements.
