Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Refrigeration System Safety Code apply to the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of refrigeration systems used in both residential and commercial applications. This code covers the safety of mechanical refrigeration systems, addressing the use of refrigerants, system design, leak detection, ventilation, and emergency controls to prevent hazards such as leaks, explosions, or system failures.
Exception #1: Residential refrigeration systems, such as household refrigerators, are generally exempt from these provisions unless they contain a certain quantity of refrigerant or serve a commercial purpose.
Exception #2: Temporary refrigeration systems used during construction or for temporary cooling may be subject to less stringent requirements or separate regulations.
