Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Refrigeration System Safety Code 2016 apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of refrigeration systems for both residential and commercial applications. This code focuses on the safety measures for refrigeration systems, covering the use of refrigerants, system design, leak detection, ventilation, and emergency controls to mitigate risks such as refrigerant leaks, explosions, and system malfunctions.
Exception #1: Residential refrigeration systems, such as household refrigerators or small appliances, are generally exempt unless they exceed specific refrigerant thresholds or serve a commercial function.
Exception #2: Temporary refrigeration systems or mobile cooling units are not governed by this code and may be subject to different safety and operational standards.
