Scope

  • The Georgia Peak Cooling and Heating Calculation Code applies to commercial, mid-rise, and high-rise residential buildings, setting standards for calculating peak heating and cooling loads. This code provides guidelines for accurately determining building load requirements to ensure efficient HVAC system design. It includes criteria for environmental factors, occupancy, internal loads, and building envelope characteristics to achieve proper thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

Exception #1: Low-rise residential buildings are covered by different standards and do not fall under this code’s requirements.

Exception #2: Temporary structures or facilities with limited climate control requirements may follow alternative or simplified load calculation methods.
