Scope
- The Georgia Outpatient Facilities Design Code applies to the design, construction, and renovation of outpatient care facilities. This code establishes standards for patient safety, infection control, accessibility, and functionality specific to outpatient settings, such as ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging facilities, and specialty clinics. Requirements cover areas including HVAC and ventilation, emergency systems, patient care areas, and accessibility to ensure safe, compliant environments.
Exception #1: Small outpatient facilities that do not perform invasive procedures may have less stringent ventilation and design requirements, depending on local jurisdiction.
Exception #2: Minor renovations in existing facilities may not require full compliance with current design standards unless impacting essential patient care or safety systems.
