Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia One- and Two-Family Dwelling Fire Sprinkler Installation Code apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems specifically for one- and two-family dwellings, as well as manufactured homes. The code is intended to provide minimum requirements for life safety and property protection while accommodating the specific needs of residential properties.
Exception #1: Detached garages, carports, and similar residential structures are generally exempt from the sprinkler requirements, unless required by local jurisdictions.
Exception #2: Multi-family residential buildings or townhouses may be required to follow the more stringent NFPA 13 or NFPA 13R standards, depending on the local authority’s requirements.
