Scope
- The Georgia Masonry Specification Code 2016 applies to the materials, design, construction, and maintenance of masonry structures, including brick, block, and stone. This code provides guidelines for material quality, construction practices, reinforcement, and testing to ensure structural integrity, durability, and resistance to environmental factors for load-bearing and non-load-bearing masonry applications.
Exception #1: Non-structural masonry elements used for decorative purposes may follow alternative guidelines if they do not bear significant loads.
Exception #2: Temporary masonry structures used in construction may have reduced requirements based on the intended use and duration of the structure.
