Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Low-Rise Residential Fire Sprinkler Installation Code apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in low-rise residential occupancies (four stories or fewer), including apartment buildings, condominiums, and other similar residential properties. The code ensures life safety for occupants by providing guidelines for water-based fire protection systems while considering the unique needs of residential buildings.
Exception #1: Single-family dwellings and two-family townhouses are governed by NFPA 13D and are exempt from the requirements of NFPA 13R.
Exception #2: Non-residential occupancies within a mixed-use building may need to comply with the more stringent requirements of NFPA 13 for their specific sections.
