Scope

  • The provisions of the Georgia Health Care Facility Ventilation Code apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of ventilation systems in health care facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and outpatient care centers. This code sets minimum requirements for air changes, filtration, humidity control, and pressurization to ensure proper ventilation for infection control and patient safety.

Exception #1: Small health care offices and clinics that do not perform invasive procedures may have less stringent ventilation requirements, depending on the local jurisdiction.

Exception #2: Temporary health care facilities or emergency setups, such as those used during natural disasters, may follow alternative ventilation guidelines to address immediate needs.
