Scope

• The provisions of the Georgia 2010 ADA Standards apply to the design, construction, and alteration of facilities to ensure they are accessible to individuals with disabilities. These standards address various aspects of accessibility, including accessible routes, entrances, restrooms, parking, and other essential building features. The Georgia-specific amendments aim to complement federal accessibility requirements while addressing state-specific needs.

Exception #1: Certain small businesses and historical buildings may receive more lenient accessibility requirements, provided these structures do not serve as public accommodations or significantly impact accessibility.

Exception #2: Residential properties, such as detached single-family homes and duplexes, are generally exempt unless used for public purposes or as part of multi-family housing developments.
