Adopts with Amendments
- NFPA 13 (2013 Edition)
Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Fire Sprinkler Code 2013 apply to the design, installation, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. This code provides guidelines for system layout, water supply, and sprinkler head placement, ensuring adequate fire protection. Georgia-specific amendments were included to address local conditions and enhance safety in fire suppression.
Exception #1: Residential sprinkler systems for one- and two-family dwellings may comply with NFPA 13D, which offers alternative, less stringent requirements compared to commercial systems.
Exception #2: Existing structures were not required to upgrade to the 2013 code unless they underwent major renovations or occupancy changes that necessitated compliance with the newer standards.
