Scope
- The provisions of the Georgia Emergency and Standby Power Code apply to the installation, maintenance, operation, and testing of emergency and standby power systems. This code ensures that backup power systems are capable of providing reliable power in the event of an outage, ensuring the safety of building occupants and continued operation of critical systems such as fire alarms, elevators, and medical equipment in both commercial and residential buildings.
Exception #1: One- and two-family dwellings are generally exempt from the requirements of NFPA 110 unless backup power systems are specifically required by local authorities.
Exception #2: Temporary power systems for construction sites or special events are governed by separate local or national regulations and may not be subject to NFPA 110.
