Adoption Info of Georgia Deformed and Plain Carbon-steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement Code 2015ae1
- ASTM A615/A615M-15 (Standard Specification for Deformed and Plain Carbon-Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement) with Georgia-specific amendments
Effective Dates
- January 1, 2015 – Present
Adopts with Amendments
- ASTM A615/A615M-15 (Standard Specification for Deformed and Plain Carbon-Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement)
Scope
- The Georgia Deformed and Plain Carbon-Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement Code applies to the material specifications, production, and application of carbon-steel reinforcing bars in concrete structures. This code ensures that reinforcing steel used in concrete meets specified standards for strength, ductility, and durability to reinforce load-bearing structures effectively, such as foundations, beams, columns, and slabs in both residential and commercial buildings.
Exception #1: Decorative or non-structural reinforcement applications may follow different standards if they do not contribute to the primary load-bearing structure.
Exception #2: Temporary reinforcements used in construction phases may have reduced requirements based on load demands and intended use duration.
