Scope

  • The Georgia Cold-Formed Steel Structural Member Code 2016 applies to the design, fabrication, and installation of cold-formed steel structural members used in construction, including walls, floors, roofs, and framing. This code ensures adequate strength, durability, and stability for cold-formed steel structures, covering material specifications, connection requirements, and load-bearing capacity.

Exception #1: Non-structural cold-formed steel elements, such as decorative or partition walls, may follow simplified standards if they do not bear significant loads.

Exception #2: Temporary structures or light-duty installations, such as those used during construction, may have reduced requirements based on intended use and duration.
