Scope

  • The Georgia Building Services Piping Code applies to the design, construction, inspection, and testing of piping systems in commercial, institutional, and residential buildings for services such as heating, cooling, water supply, and other utilities. This code ensures that building service piping systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with performance standards for handling various fluids under pressure.

Exception #1: Low-pressure systems operating below a specified threshold may follow alternative design criteria, subject to local jurisdiction approval.

Exception #2: Temporary piping systems used during construction or renovation may be governed by separate construction standards and may not need to meet full ASME B31.9 requirements.
