Overview The 2016 Florida Masonry Code provides comprehensive requirements for the design, construction, and maintenance of masonry structures in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This code includes guidelines for selecting appropriate masonry units, mortar, grout, reinforcement, and other materials to ensure the structural integrity, durability, and safety of masonry walls, foundations, and other elements.
The code also covers construction practices, including jointing, bonding, curing, and inspection procedures, to ensure that masonry structures are built to withstand Florida’s unique environmental conditions, such as high humidity, hurricanes, and temperature fluctuations. The 2016 edition aligns with industry standards, such as those from the Masonry Standards Joint Committee (MSJC) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), while incorporating Florida-specific amendments to address the state’s regulatory needs.
