Overview The 2007 Florida Elevator and Escalator Performance-Based Code provides guidelines for the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of elevators and escalators based on performance criteria rather than prescriptive requirements. This code allows for greater flexibility in design and operation while ensuring that safety and reliability standards are met or exceeded.
The 2007 edition was developed to align with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) A17.7/CSA B44.7 Performance-Based Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators and incorporates Florida-specific provisions to address the state’s unique conditions. This code is essential for architects, engineers, elevator manufacturers, and code officials involved in the development and operation of innovative vertical transportation systems in Florida.
