Overview The 2011 Florida Electrical Code provides comprehensive requirements for the safe installation, design, and inspection of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This code is based on the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC), also known as NFPA 70, and includes additional Florida-specific amendments to address the state’s unique conditions and regulatory requirements.
The code covers a wide range of topics, including wiring methods, grounding, overcurrent protection, lighting, and special occupancies, ensuring that electrical installations meet the highest safety standards to prevent fire hazards, electrical shock, and other risks associated with improper electrical systems.
