Delaware Fire Code 2015

Overview The 2013 Delaware Fire Sprinkler Code provides comprehensive guidelines for the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire sprinkler systems in various buildings throughout Delaware. This code is based on national standards such as NFPA 13 (Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems), NFPA 13R (Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in Low-Rise Residential Occupancies), and NFPA 13D (Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes), with Delaware-specific amendments to address local needs.

Key components of the 2013 Delaware Fire Sprinkler Code include:

  • Requirements for various types of sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
  • Detailed specifications for the design and installation of system components, such as pipes, valves, and sprinkler heads.
  • Water supply requirements, ensuring adequate pressure and flow to meet fire protection needs.
  • Guidelines for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of sprinkler systems to ensure ongoing functionality and compliance.
  • Special provisions for specific building types, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties, as well as high-rise buildings and other structures with unique fire risks.

The code is intended to ensure that fire sprinkler systems are installed and maintained to provide effective fire suppression and life safety in the event of a fire. The 2013 edition was in effect until it was replaced by the 2019 Delaware Fire Sprinkler Code.
