Florida’s New Train-The-Trainer Program Launches

The Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) have teamed up to prepare building code trainers to deliver effective energy code training for the Florida construction industry. The organizations developed a curriculum in early 2015 and held the first train-the-trainer series in late February. The train-the-trainer session’s purpose is to introduce the curriculum, training techniques, and valuable skills to new and existing local trainers as well as provide trainers with a support network.

The new Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, is slated to take effect on June 30, 2015 and will include several new requirements. FHBA’s free course introduces the construction industry to these changes, provides best practices to achieve the requirements and allows participants to collect continuing education credit. It will also help promote the importance of the energy code. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to serve as a technical resource to their local building department, company or organization.

FHBA expects approximately 1200 participants from the construction industry to attend the training over the next few months. The course will be offered in multiple jurisdictions around the state. To see locations and learn more, please visit: http://www.learnfloridabuildingcodes.com/.
